White had the largest percent of student body in Chickasaw County School District schools in 2021-22 school year

White students made up 37.1% of the 2,211 students enrolled in Chickasaw County School District schools during the 2021-22 school year, making them the most represented ethnicity, according to the Mississippi Department of Education.

Houston High School had the highest enrollment in the district with 479 students.

A snapshot of Chickasaw County School District schools showed 37.1% of students were white, 31.9% were Black, and 6.7% Hispanic.

Chickasaw County School District roughly covers four schools within Chickasaw County and has a main office in Houston.

Mississippi has continually struggled with public education. The most recent Report Card on American Education, from a right-leaning think tank, gave the state a C-. This is consistent with ratings stretching back nearly a decade.

The nonpartisan Education Week also ranked Mississippi schools as C- in their most recent analysis.
