Indians Defeat Holmes In Overtime

Itawamba Community College men's basketball won a big conference battle with Holmes Community College, 84-76, in overtime Tuesday night.

The Indians (20-4, 10-3 MACCC) and Bulldogs were locked in a battle the entire game and at halftime, the Bulldogs held a three point advantage, 33-30.

It remained a back-and-forth affair in the second half, but the Indians held a three point lead, 66-63, in the closing seconds of a regulation. However, the Bulldogs hit a three-pointer with 0.5 left on the clock to force overtime tied at 66-66.

Kolby Horace (Spanish Fort, Ala.) hit a three pointer with 2:30 left in overtime to help the Indians pull away, and ICC making the most of their trips to the free throw line extended the lead and put the game out of reach.

It was a full team effort for the Indians as six players score in double figures. George Marshall (Jackson) led the charge with 17 points, followed by Horace with 15 points and Josh Lee (Canton) with 14 points.

Jaden Webb (Olive Branch) scored 13 points, Chris Minton (Indianola) came off the bench to score 12 points and Rock Robinson (Pontotoc) finished with 11 points.

With the win and an overtime loss for Meridian, the Indians are in sole possession of second place and one game behind Co-Lin, who still has two regular season games remaining.

The Indians will wrap up the regular season Thursday at the Davis Event Center when they host Jones College at 5:30 p.m. Sophomore Night recognition will be held prior to the big conference showdown with the Bobcats.
