Cost of college went up for all students at Itawamba Community College

In-state tuition and fees rose 11.3 percent for 2018-19 at Itawamba Community College, according to recent data from the U.S. Department of Education.

Mississippi residents paid $3,160 to attend the two-year public institution this year – $320 more than the $2,840 charged for 2017-18.

Non-residents paid 69.6 percent more than residents this year, or $5,360. Their price tag grew 6.3 percent from $5,040 in 2017-18.

About 97 percent of the school's undergraduate population are Mississippi residents. And about 2 percent are residents of other states.

Data shows 97 percent of full-time undergraduates who started school in 2015-16 received student financial aid in some form. In all, 1,281 students received grants or scholarships totaling $6.4 million and 249 students took out student loans totaling more than $903,131.

Including all undergraduates (4,930), 4,053 students used grants or scholarships totaling $16.6 million, and 890 students took out $3.9 million in federal student loans.
