White had the largest percent of student body in Monroe County School District schools in 2021-22 school year

White students made up 90.1% of the 2,137 students enrolled in Monroe County School District schools during the 2021-22 school year, making them the most represented ethnicity, according to the Mississippi Department of Education.

This is a 1.6% increase over the previous school year.

Hatley High School had the highest enrollment in the district with 994 students.

A snapshot of Monroe County School District schools showed 90.1% of students were white, 6.9% were Black, 1.4% were multiracial, and 0.5% Hispanic.

Monroe County School District roughly covers three schools within Monroe County and has a main office in Hamilton.

Mississippi has continually struggled with public education. The most recent Report Card on American Education, from a right-leaning think tank, gave the state a C-. This is consistent with ratings stretching back nearly a decade.

The nonpartisan Education Week also ranked Mississippi schools as C- in their most recent analysis.
