What background was most represented in Lee County School District schools in 2021-22 school year?

White students made up 44% of the 6,251 students enrolled in Lee County School District schools during the 2021-22 school year, making them the most represented ethnicity, according to the Mississippi Department of Education.

This is a 33.5% decrease from the previous school year.

Saltillo High School had the highest enrollment in the district with 953 students.

A snapshot of Lee County School District schools showed 44% of students were white, 26.7% were Black, 2.7% were multiracial, 1.1% were Hispanic, and 0.6% Asian.

Lee County School District roughly covers 10 schools within Lee County and has a main office in Saltillo.

Mississippi has continually struggled with public education. The most recent Report Card on American Education, from a right-leaning think tank, gave the state a C-. This is consistent with ratings stretching back nearly a decade.

The nonpartisan Education Week also ranked Mississippi schools as C- in their most recent analysis.
