2021-22 School Year: What were the backgrounds of Itawamba County School District students?

White students made up 88.8% of the 3,391 students enrolled in Itawamba County School District schools during the 2021-22 school year, making them the most represented ethnicity, according to the Mississippi Department of Education.

This is a 0.5% decrease from the previous school year.

Itawamba Attendance Center had the highest enrollment in the district with 1,127 students.

A snapshot of Itawamba County School District schools showed 88.8% of students were white, 6.9% were Black, and 2.1% multiracial.

Itawamba County School District roughly covers six schools within Itawamba County and has a main office in Tremont.

Mississippi has continually struggled with public education. The most recent Report Card on American Education, from a right-leaning think tank, gave the state a C-. This is consistent with ratings stretching back nearly a decade.

The nonpartisan Education Week also ranked Mississippi schools as C- in their most recent analysis.
