Of the 521 students in Chickasaw County schools, 52.6% were men and 47.4% were women, according to the Mississippi Department of Education.

The previous year, the student body across Chickasaw County schools was 59.1% men and 40.9% women.

Okolona Elementary School in Okolona had the highest number of boy and girl students.

There are three schools within Chickasaw County.

Mississippi has continually struggled with public education. The most recent Report Card on American Education, from a right-leaning think tank, gave the state a C-. This is consistent with ratings stretching back nearly one decade.

The nonpartisan Education Week also ranked Mississippi schools as C- in their most recent analysis.
