2020-2021: What were the backgrounds of Tippah County students?

Of the 3,302 students enrolled in Tippah County schools in 2020-2021, 67.9% were White, according to the Mississippi Department of Education. This was the most represented ethnicity among Tippah County students.

This is a 0.5% decrease from the previous school year.

Pine Grove High School had the highest enrollment of White students in the 2020-2021 school year.

A snapshot of Tippah County schools showed 67.9% students were White, 18% were Black or African American, 7.4% were Hispanic or Latino and 4.3% were Two or More Races.

There are seven schools in Tippah County.

Mississippi has continually struggled with public education. The most recent Report Card on American Education, from a right-leaning think tank, gave the state a C-. This is consistent with ratings stretching back nearly one decade.

The nonpartisan Education Week also ranked Mississippi schools as C- in their most recent analysis.
