White had the largest percent of student body in Lee County schools in 2020-2021 school year

Of the 15,076 students enrolled in Lee County schools in 2020-2021, 49.6% were White, according to the Mississippi Department of Education. This was the most represented ethnicity among Lee County students.

This is a 0.6% decrease from the previous school year.

Saltillo High School had the highest enrollment of White students in the 2020-2021 school year.

A snapshot of Lee County schools showed 49.6% students were White, 39.2% were Black or African American, 3.4% were Hispanic or Latino, 2.7% were Two or More Races and 0.6% were Asian.

There are 29 schools in Lee County.

Mississippi has continually struggled with public education. The most recent Report Card on American Education, from a right-leaning think tank, gave the state a C-. This is consistent with ratings stretching back nearly one decade.

The nonpartisan Education Week also ranked Mississippi schools as C- in their most recent analysis.
