What background was most represented in Benton County schools in 2020-2021 school year?

Of the 954 students enrolled in Benton County schools in 2020-2021, 47.7% were White, according to the Mississippi Department of Education. This was the most represented ethnicity among Benton County students.

This is a 1.4% increase over the previous school year.

Hickory Flat Attendance Center had the highest enrollment of White students in the 2020-2021 school year.

A snapshot of Benton County schools showed 47.7% students were White, 44.7% were Black or African American, 2.7% were Two or More Races and 1.6% were Hispanic or Latino.

There are three schools in Benton County.

Mississippi has continually struggled with public education. The most recent Report Card on American Education, from a right-leaning think tank, gave the state a C-. This is consistent with ratings stretching back nearly one decade.

The nonpartisan Education Week also ranked Mississippi schools as C- in their most recent analysis.
