2020-2021: What were the backgrounds of Prentiss County students?

Of the 4,081 students enrolled in Prentiss County schools in 2020-2021, 75.7% were White, according to the Mississippi Department of Education. This was the most represented ethnicity among Prentiss County students.

This is a 1% decrease from the previous school year.

Wheeler High School had the highest enrollment of White students in the 2020-2021 school year.

A snapshot of Prentiss County schools showed 75.7% students were White, 15.3% were Black or African American and 4.1% were Two or More Races.

There are 10 schools in Prentiss County.

Mississippi has continually struggled with public education. The most recent Report Card on American Education, from a right-leaning think tank, gave the state a C-. This is consistent with ratings stretching back nearly one decade.

The nonpartisan Education Week also ranked Mississippi schools as C- in their most recent analysis.
