2019-2020: What were the backgrounds of Itawamba County students?

Of the 3,468 students enrolled in Itawamba County schools in 2019-2020, 89.7% were White, according to the Mississippi Department of Education. This was the most represented ethnicity among Itawamba County students.

This is a 0.1% decrease from the previous school year.

Mantachie Attendance Center had the highest enrollment of White students in the 2019-2020 school year.

A snapshot of Itawamba County schools showed 89.7% students were White, 6.7% were Black or African American and 1.7% were Two or More Races.

There are six schools in Itawamba County.

Mississippi has continually struggled with public education. The most recent Report Card on American Education, from a right-leaning think tank, gave the state a C-. This is consistent with ratings stretching back nearly one decade.

The nonpartisan Education Week also ranked Mississippi schools as C- in their most recent analysis.
