White had the largest percent of student body in Alcorn County schools in 2019-2020 school year

Of the 5,881 students enrolled in Alcorn County schools in 2019-2020, 74.7% were White, according to the Mississippi Department of Education. This was the most represented ethnicity among Alcorn County students.

This is a 1.1% decrease from the previous school year.

Corinth Elementary School had the highest enrollment of White students in the 2019-2020 school year.

A snapshot of Alcorn County schools showed 74.7% students were White, 14.4% were Black or African American, 4.9% were Hispanic or Latino, 3.4% were Two or More Races and 0.5% were Asian.

There are 11 schools in Alcorn County.

Mississippi has continually struggled with public education. The most recent Report Card on American Education, from a right-leaning think tank, gave the state a C-. This is consistent with ratings stretching back nearly one decade.

The nonpartisan Education Week also ranked Mississippi schools as C- in their most recent analysis.
