Lafayette County Master Gardener Association 2022 Fall Lecture

The Lafayette County Master Gardeners are hosting a Fall Lecture on Saturday October 8th from 9:30 until Noon.  There will be two presentations and they will be held at the Lafayette County-MSU Extension Office at 70 F. D. Buddy East Parkway.  The program is FREE and OPEN TO THE PUBLIC.  If you have any questions, contact the Lafayette County Master Gardeners at lcmga38@gmail.com.  Refreshments will be provided and the doors open at 9:00 am.  We look forward to seeing you on Saturday October 8th.

 Presentation description:

 ·         The home landscape design process - 9:30 am - 10:30 am

o    Where do I start? - understanding the design process

o    Steps for success - understanding the different approaches to installation and maintenance

o    Native plants - understanding selection of common and under-utilized natives

o    Q&A

·         Managing the home landscape - 11:00 am - 12:00 pm

o    Co-existing with deer and other garden wildlife

o    Reducing maintenance; understanding when to use pesticides

o    Unique methods for adding more plants to your landscape (native plant sales, online ordering, plant swaps)

o    Q&A

Presenters:

 Matt Nielson - Owner of Green Groves, LLC; Matt is a consulting arborist for projects across the southeastern US and advises on planting plans on select projects.

Nate Venarske - Owner of Mississippi Woodland Nursery, LLC; Nate is a naturalist and nurseryman who helps homeowners support wildlife and create a sense of place in their backyards.
