The Lee County Sheriff’s Department is issuing a scam alert. We have been made aware of individuals calling stating they work for the Lee County Sheriff’s Department and a warrant is out for their arrest. The call will follow up with ways in which to pay off this warrant using methods such as google play cards or any pre-paid retail gift cards. Actual Sheriff’s Department numbers are being used (spoofed), but do not originate from this office.
The Lee County Sheriff’s Department does *not* call about any warrants or ask for any payment over the phone for any warrants, court summons, or subpoenas issued. All these calls are fraudulent and should be reported to your local Law Enforcement agency.
