On June 24, 2022, deputies with the Lee County Sheriff's Department conducted a safety checkpoint on CR 885. A vehicle approached the checkpoint and a deputy asked for the driver's license and proof of insurance. The driver, identified as Wesley Black, appeared to be very nervous while retrieving his license and stated that he did not have insurance. Black was placed under arrest for no insurance and advised his vehicle would be towed. Black then told the deputy there was fentanyl and needles n the center console of his vehicle. During a vehicle inventory search, the deputy located the alleged fentanyl and needles.
