On April 5, 2022, the Criminal Investigation Division at Lee County Sheriff’s Department was contacted by the Oxford Police Department in regards to a possible kidnapping that had occurred in Lee County. It was learned that a female was at the Oxford Police Department stating that she was forced into a vehicle against her will and driven from County Road 753 area in Tupelo to Oxford, MS.
Upon further investigation, the female victim stated that the suspect assaulted her and forced her into his vehicle. The female victim identified the suspect as Shelton “Mitch” McGreger. The victim stated she was able to exit the vehicle at an opportune time and was picked up by a concerned citizen that drove her to the Oxford Police Department. McGreger was taken into custody on the same day in Lee County. Thanks to Oxford Police Department and their detectives for their work in this case.
