From Sheriff Johnson:
Back on 12/22/2021 at around 2pm the Lee County Sheriff Department responded to a residence on County Road 746. Upon arrival deputies found Justin Mayfield deceased in the home from what appeared to be a gunshot wound. The crime scene was processed by Criminal and Narcotic Investigators from Lee County Sheriff Department and North Mississippi Narcotics Unit.
Several pieces of evidence, which included weapons, large amounts of marijuana, and large amounts of cash were seized from the residence.
During the investigation it was determined that armed suspects broke into the home with the intent of robbing Mayfield. Upon entry, Mayfield fought back against the intruders but was shot by them and ultimately died from his injuries. The suspects then allegedly stole cash and narcotics and left the scene.
After a lengthy investigation three suspects were identified and arrest warrants were issued for Capital Murder. As more information came in from the investigation it was determined three other individuals played a part in the Robbery and Murder. Warrants were issued for three suspects. Anthony Dixon was caught yesterday (03-10-2022) and taken into custody without incident.
Another suspect was apprehended today (03-11-2022) and the name and other information will be released at a later date.

Charge: Capital Murder
Bond was set at 5 Million Dollars by Justice Court Judge Chuck Hopkins.
Previous convictions of Aggravated Assault and Armed Robbery and currently on probation with MDOC.
