No. 17 Indians Drop Overtime Decision In Meridian

No. 17 Itawamba Community College men’s basketball suffered their first conference loss of the season Monday night with a hard fought 86-76 overtime loss to Meridian Community College.

The Indians (16-2, 6-1 MACCC) trailed early and found themselves trailing by as much as 15 in the contest. At halftime, the Indians were down by six, 38-32.

As time was winding down in the second half, the Indians went on a run to pull within three points, 70-67, with 32 seconds remaining but the Eagles had possession.

Rock Robinson (Pontotoc) had a big block to prevent the Eagles from putting the game out of reach, and then rushed down the court to hit a game tying three-pointer to force overtime tied at 70-70.

In overtime, the Eagles were able to get their shots to fall on their way to the overtime victory.

Gemari Marshall (Jackson) led the Indians with 24 points, while Josh Lee (canton) and George Marshall (Jackson) added 11 points each. Robinson finished the night with 10 points.
