Indians Pick Up Big Conference Win Over East Mississippi

A career night for George Marshall (Jackson) helped Itawamba Community College men’s basketball put its two-game losing streak to an end with a big 79-67 conference win over East Mississippi Community College Friday.

Marshall scored a career and team-high 28 points to lead the Indians (19-4, 9-3 MACCC) to victory.

The Indians led for most of the first half, but the Lions were able to tie game in the closing minutes. However, the Indians would hold a two point advantage, 34-32, at halftime.

In the second half, the Indians would stretch their lead out to double digits and hold off every comeback attempt for the Lions to pick up the 79-67 win.

Following Marshall’s big night, Josh Lee (Canton) score 21 points and Rock Robinson (Pontotoc) added 14 points.

The Indians and Lions (17-5, 8-4 MACCC) had entered Friday’s game tied for second place and now the Indians sit just one game out of first place with two games left in the regular season.

Tuesday, the Indians will travel to Goodman to face Holmes Community College at 6 p.m. before wrapping up the season Thursday when Jones College visits Fulton on Sophomore Night.
